Electric Rates

IMG_6287How has this small community lured so many big companies to rural Kansas? In large part, with incredibly low electric rates.

McPherson industrial customers paid an average of only 5.1 cents per kilowatt hour in 2014.  Our industrial rate is one of the lowest of any community in the country, making the city a compelling option for any manufacturer looking to relocate or expand.

McPherson’s favorable electric rates can be attributed to the municipally owned McPherson Board of Public Utilities, the city’s power supplier. Having its own significant generating capacity, McPherson’s interconnect agreement with Westar Energy has been extended through 2039.
